ISU Stevenson Center Fellow Randall Dimmette-Schweigert

On episode #59 of the Building BN podcast, BNEDC Community Marketing Manager, Whitney Chesher, and Business Retention and Expansion Manager, Casey Peterson sit down to speak with ISU Stevenson Center Fellow, Randall Dimmette-Schweigert, the newest member of the BNEDC staff. Dimmette-Schweigert hails from New Mexico and earned Bachelor’s Degrees in both Economics and Political Science from the University of New Mexico.

After graduation, Dimmette-Schweigert joined the Peace Corps, volunteering in various capacities in Panama for three years. After that, she worked at the Peace Corps headquarters in Washington, D.C., assisting volunteers with medical clearance. She is currently a Stevenson Fellow through Illinois State University. From ISU’s website, the Fellowship program “matches Fellows and organizations for an 11-month professional practice placement.  Stevenson Center Fellows are emerging community and economic development professionals eager to share their experience and expertise and to help your organization achieve its goals.”

Dimmette-Schweigert explains that the Stevenson Center “cultivates leaders in public service through a combination of your coursework and professional practice, which is what I'm in right now, and also community collaboration. We're able to collaborate with different organizations while we're taking our classes as well. “

Listen to the entire podcast here, which includes the story of how Dimmette-Schweigert earned a unique nickname during her time serving in the Peace Corps, her thoughts on economic development, and her favorite food items local to Bloomington-Normal.
